Please be aware that all routine outpatient appointments for diabetes and endocrinology will be delivered by telephone consultation during the Covid-19 crisis. If you have an imminent appointment at one of our clinics you will be contacted by phone or letter to inform you of alternative arrangements. Wherever possible we will attempt to deliver a telephone consultation around the time of your previously scheduled hospital appointment.


Advice for people with diabetes

If you have type 2 diabetes and you are on an SGLT2i tablet (empagliflozin, dapagliflozin, canagliflozin), you should stop these medications if you develop symptoms of coronavirus.  This is because these tablets can increase your risk of developing diabetic ketoacidosis.  They can be restarted 2 days after your symptoms clear up.  Please keep taking your usual medications unless you become unwell.  The link to the Diabetes UK website contains more detailed information:
